The Department of Chemistry was established in 1967. Over the years, department could produce a large number of outstanding graduates who in their later years reached at the heights of different fields of life. Presently Department is rich with five faculties who are having Ph. D and excellent academic track records. Department is having an efficient alumni working in various fields inside and outside of the country. The Department is now looking into Post Graduate course and research programmes. BSc. Biochemistry course was sanctioned to the College during the academic year 1998-99 utilising extra facilities of Chemistry department as a self-financing course and the Deparment is continuously bagging most of the ranks in subject in the university every year.
