Introduction

The “MoE’s Innovation Cell (MIC)” was established by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, to systematically promote the innovation culture across all higher education institutions (HEIs). The main goal of MIC is to excite, motivate, and nurture young pupils by assisting them as they develop new ideas into prototypes throughout their academic years. MIC wants to promote the formation of “Institution’s Innovation Councils” (IICs) in HEIs.  Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) was established in Sree College, Guruvayur on 1, June 2021 to promote innovation in the institution through various modes, leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campus

Vision

To promote creativity, critical thinking, idea generation and entrepreneurial capabilities among the students and staff to transform their innovative ideas into potential start-ups for the growth of society.

Major focus of IIC

• To establish a culture of innovation in the institute.
• To provide laboratories, infrastructural and mentoring facilities to prepare the students for National/International level Hackathons/championships.
• To create an ecosystem for multidisciplinary interactions, research & innovations. To sharpen communication, business, management, leadership, team spirit, and complex problem-solving skills among the students.
• To create awareness and facilitate intellectual property rights

Functions of IIC

• To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in time bound fashion.
• Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
• Organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.
• Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations. Create an Institution’s Innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by the institution’s faculty and students.
• Organize idea competitions, mini-challenges, etc. with the involvement of industries. Participation & Association

*Young Innovators Programme (YIP) is a specially designed programme under Kerala  Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC) *. The programme aims to  empower future innovators to innovate new products, services or models to meet  emerging requirements, unarticulated needs, or existing market needs of the society  more effectively through an innovative challenge.
