Sree Krishna College, Guruvayur visualized by Sree Krishna Educational Society, was formally inaugurated on 18th July 1964 and was affiliated to Kerala University. The College has evolved for the last five decades into a centre of higher education catering to the needs of the youth of the region and molding them to serve the nation in diverse realms. The infrastructural facilities on offer are at par with the facilities available in all major Colleges of the state. Sports and Athletics get laudable promotion in the institution in the presence of two of our students in the 2016-Olympics is an achievement only few Colleges in the country can boast of. The institution is sworn to serve the community around and all the practices and certificate courses designed by the institution take into serious consideration the social responsibility of the students. The institution has special programmes intended to bring the marginalized sections into the mainstream of academic activities. The effectiveness of the academic procedures stand amply demonstrated through our alumni who have distinguished themselves at various levels. High court judges, religious heads, MLAs, local body heads, Municipal chairpersons, Pro Vice Chancellors, Scientists, Academicians, entrepreneurs, social workers of eminence, high Government officials, University Union office bears, Syndicate and Senate members and Olympians, cine artists, prominent writers, national award winning film directors, media persons and Javans have made the institution proud with their contribution to the society at large. Innovative practices carried out by the College have deep academic and social relevance. All academic activities are carried out with a committed team of faculty, many of whom are Ph.D. holders and dedicated to the perpetuation of the vision and mission of the College. The institution has vibrant organizations like NSS, NCC, Nature Club and umpteen other forums and clubs that strive to instill the spirit of nationalism, inclusiveness, environmental responsibilities, civic sense, humanism, and other character building traits. The College has commendable academic achievements in the form of University toppers in various disciplines, though special reservations for socially and economically backward sections are offered at the time of admission. The College has glittering achievements in the field of fine arts and has won numerous prizes at the University level. The practice of organic farming and the programme “Annapoorna” has come in for high praise from the community around. College shares its expertise in diverse fields with all the stake holders and the academic community. “Walkathon” programmes are organized to promote a sports culture among the community around and to provide them with health tips to make them lead a healthier life. Rain harvesting, conservation of energy preservation of the eco fabric of the campus , innovative training methods to mould dope free Athletes of international caliber and an array of educationally and socially significant programmes carried out by the College have been much appreciated. The institution has a well drawn roadmap for the next decade, the ambitious targets having received the “go ahead” signal from the management. Installation of solar panel, “state of the art” sports facilities, research centres for all PG Departments with linkages and collaborations, more job oriented UG and PG programmes, better infrastructural facilities and a few other dream projects expect their fruition through the patronage of the UGC and the College Management.
